My name is David Irving Shiner and I would like to ask for your vote for Palm Beach County Commissioner, District 5.
As a South Florida native, successful businessman, and attorney who both lives and works in this district, I know the needs of this community and see the impact County Commission decisions have on my employees, clients, neighbors, family, and friends. Given the unprecedented challenges our district and county face in reopening after the pandemic, it is more critical than ever that leaders understand the importance of public safety, public health, and financial responsibility and have close ties to the community they are serving.
I’ve dedicated my life to helping individuals and businesses in South Florida as an attorney and small business owner. As a civil trial attorney, I have advocated for clients in their most difficult hours, and have helped businesses with creative problem solving, negotiation, and skilled representation at trial. I am keenly aware of the challenges individuals and businesses are facing in our district, and welcome an opportunity to give them a voice in local government.
I believe in strengthening our district’s social fabric and resilience, and support local charities and events. My business serves as a main sponsor for the Delray Beach Police Department’s National Night Out, an event that focuses on bringing the community together with local first responders to ensure local children have the school supplies they need for the upcoming school year. I care deeply about education in our county, and my sons attend our local public elementary school.
I was born here and attended school here. I’ve lived in Delray Beach, Florida for the last 15 years with my wife Laura and two sons, Lucas and Benjamin, and we are proud to call South Palm Beach County home. I enjoy spending my time with my family outdoors. You can typically find us enjoying our local parks, including Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands, the Wakodahatchee Wetlands, and West Delray Regional Park.
